PERSONAL AFFINITIES

Whilst every Shinobi goes through the same regimen of intense training as they endeavor to become the militaristic force for their village, each of the said Shinobi has many unique things that they possess to enhance or detriment their own skill set as they work to serve the village. Some of these aforementioned individual traits might be brought on as a bout of genetics, while others might have been gained through further training from one's elders elders or as a direct result of various other variables. Whatever their origin, each of these abilities give a varied and useful flavor to each Shinobi and as such are known as "Personal Affinities", all of them being valuable traits which separate one Shinobi from another in terms of skills or abilities. They can vary heavily from each individual and their subsequent talents, where some may be physically stronger, others may have a tremendous chakra supply, and others still might have been reputed to be the fastest of all Shinobi. With that being said, there are many types of Personal Affinities and it is important to discover which ones suit your character the best as the number that you can possess is limited, and even further certain Affinities require you to specialize and train in a certain field before you can be eligible to obtain them.

There are two overall categories for Personal Affinities to group the six specialization areas that will be explained below. The first group and by far the largest, is Combat Oriented Personal Affinities, which entails Physical Based Affinities, Mental Based Affinities, Skill Based Affinities, Chakra Based Affinities. Sub specializations located within the Combat Oriented Category can as the name implies be used in combat oriented scenarios. The Second Category is Social Based PA, which although it only contains one sub section, details Affinities that can only be used in social oriented scenarios as the name implies and have little to no impact on combat situations beyond effecting the social and or mental environment of your character. Affliction Based Personal Affinities may fall under both of the larger categories depending on the specific ramifications of the affliction.

Physical Based Affinities:
    This category of Personal Affinities is centered mainly around traits relating to the physical body of the ninja. Many of these involve heightening the natural abilities of the body to a incredible degree through vigorous training and skill. A large degree of them are most beneficent to ninja who specialize in close quarters combat as it augments many of their techniques and fighting ability. As such, those who specialize in the art of Taijutsu or Weaponry will oft take a number of these Affinities as it allows them to acquire such key skills. Some Affinities that fall under this category include increase Speed, Strength, Evasion, or even One-Handed Seals. The training regimen for physical based Personal Affinities include spending long hours training your muscles from weights, sparring, or whatever creative methods relative to your training.

Chakra Based Affinities:
    This category of Personal Affinities is centered around the different possible aspects of a ninja's chakra. While it is not the largest category, nor the most varied it still holds various aspects that can be key to your character's development. Chakra based Personal Affinities are focused on transcending one's unique chakra abilities or type to a more powerful level, allowing them to increase their chakra levels to rival that of a Jinchūriki or even at the higher levels of this category, create their own elemental combination. Some Affinities that fall under this category include Affinities that allow a character to increase their natural Chakra Capacity, gain the ability to Sense Chakra or even allowing yourself to train an additional element and access a second kekkei genkai for more powerful ninja. The training regimen for chakra based Personal Affinities vary depending on what you're trying to train, but most of which require deep meditation, training in a specific element or area, or whatever methods you can create.

Mental Based Affinities:
    This category of Personal Affinities centers around amplifying the power of a ninja's mind. They focus around improving a ninja's mental capacity and skill to a exceptional degree through innate skill and mental training. Unlike some of the other forms of Personal Affinities, these do not require certain specializations but they do require a ninja to possess a patient and steady mind. The brain is a very powerful tool and those who peruse Affinities in this category may have access to parts of their mind people would think impossible. Some Affinities that fall under this category include Tracking Abilities and Perception Increases. The training regiment for mental based Personal Affinities include spending long hours in mediation, training the mind through various games, or whatever creative methods you can think that trains the mind.

Skill Based Affinities:
    This category of Personal Affinities centers around dictating advancements in regards to the varied specialties that a Shinobi can obtain. PAs within this section will often allow for a Ninja to gain extra abilities in relation to their specific skill areas that are seen as a measure of their capability or mastery in said areas. Whilst many of these will revolve around the seven specialty categories that are allotted for a user to utilize, but some might dictate their skill with even more specified attributes such as their clan abilities or their familiarity with summons. Personal Affinities that can be found in this category are things such as, Ninjutsu Mastery, Genjutsu Mastery, Medical Chief and Clan Prodigy. Because of the skill capacity that many of these PAs imply, a large majority of them are limited to higher ranking Shinobi.

Social Based Affinities:
    The Social Based Personal Affinities category is centered around allowing a Shinobi to better elaborate on non-combat aspects of their character and as such these PAs allow for a ninja to have a dynamic personality in how they may react in a social environment. This can add certain elements of conversation and activity between different kinds of people. Social PAs are allotted fewer slots than Combat PAs, though users may possess more than the allotted slots of Social PAs if they are willing to sacrifice a Combat PA slot for it. Personal Affinities that fall under this category are things like Chakra Aura, Animal Speaking or Street Smarts. Whilst they have absolutely no impact on a character's combative ability, they can add a fair bit of flavor to the social interactions between characters.


Much like how a Shinobi can possess multiple Specializations, Affinities work in a very similar way. A Genin starts with one C-Rank Affinity of their choosing. Upon reaching Special Chuunin, you may take a Social Affinity for free (if your Genin Affinity was a Social, you may choose to take a non-social instead). At Chuunin, you may Advance one affinity to B-Rank, and take a third Affinity. At Special Jounin, you receive a fourth and final affinity. At Jounin, you may advance one affinity to A-Rank, and one affinity to B-Rank.

Once you reach Jounin, you stop receiving new affinities, but you may continue to advance your existing ones. A Tier 3 Jounin may have an A-Rank, B-Rank, and 2 C-Rank Affinities, in addition to their Social affinity. A Tier 2 Jounin may have two A-Rank affinities, one B-Rank affinity, and one C-Rank affinity. A Tier 1 Jounin may have one S-Rank affinity, one A-Rank affinity, and 2 B-Rank affinities. Kage-level Ninja may choose between advancing one of their B-Rank affinities to A-Rank, or taking on one final C-Rank affinity.

Speed-Related Affinities
    Name: [Tier I] Enhanced Speed
    Rank: C
    Type: Physical
    Description: After training relentlessly in cardiovascular and high speed movement, shinobi are able to greatly increase their overall stamina and movement speed. Those talented with this speed are capable of running with speed a man greater than their peers and even last a bit longer during extraneous activities without becoming exhausted. This boost in speed is usually enough to quickly catch escaping targets or outrun most regular citizens.

    Name: [Tier II] Advanced Speed
    Rank: B
    Type: Physical
    Description: Further training in high speed movement has given the shinobi valiant speed that can perform olympic sprinters with no effort. By now, the ninja can run twice as fast as their untalented peers, and can usually run for miles on end without breaking a sweat.

    Name: [Tier III] Flash Speed
    Rank: A
    Type: Physical
    Description: Years of training one’s speed has lead them to the next evolutionary step in their ability. The shinobi can now go up to thrice as fast compared to others of equal rank. On top of this large speed boost, those with this speed can essentially appear as a swift blur to unsuspecting bystanders who happen to notice the character. Unfortunately, the high speed training does very little in further improving one’s already great stamina

    Name: [Tier IV] Lightning Speed
    Rank: S
    Type: Physical
    Description: Over a decade or two of constant adapting and training in one’s physical attributes has finally lead them down the path of speed. Having chosen speed as their dominant ability, shinobi with such talent are able to move four times faster than the average ninja of equal rank. Their speed is so great in fact, that should they hit their top speed, they can essentially become nothing more than a phased blur from the high-speed movement. The movement is so fast, that little beyond the Sharingan or exceptionally keen perceptive abilities can spot them.
    Upkeep: When utilizing this level of Physical Affinity, the user must sacrifice 6 Chakra per post.

Strength-Related Affinities
    Name: [Tier I] Improved Strength
    Rank: C
    Type: Physical
    Description: Countless hours, days, weeks and even months of lifting weights, muscle stretching, exercise and pure raw-power training has built the shinobi’s strength to something comparable to an ferocious animal. These ninja are so talented in strength, they can lift objects over their own weight, and strike with the ferocity of one man greater than their peers. This boost is usually enough to cause serious damage to an enemy with a mere punch or kick; causing substantial bruises to their enemy and maybe fracturing bones.

    Name: [Tier II] Immense Strength
    Rank: B
    Type: Physical
    Description: Further training in the art of killing and brute force has lead the ninja down a road full of power. They can now lift objects up to two times heavier than they are, and their physical strength has also improved to about twice as great compared to ninja of equal rank. By now the shinobi can punch a log in half, and even crack stone with their bare hands. The increase in strength has also blessed them with the ability to jump significantly higher than their peers, though this not exactly a useful benefit. Smaller bones are easier to break with full powered punches or kicks.

    Name: [Tier III] Ferocious Strength
    Rank: A
    Type: Physical
    Description: By now, the shinobi has trained more than vigorously in strength; spending several long years in this incredibly tasking feat. Very few have ever passed this point, and for good reasons. With thrice the physical strength of ninja equal in rank, those with this talent in strength have been known the shatter rocks with a mere punch, and destroy walls without even expending a drop of chakra. The strength is so great, weaponry users can cut iron and steel in half with enough focus; and most are able to lift upwards of five times more than they weigh. This level of strength makes it easy to break bones with well practiced taijutsu or weaponry attacks.

    Name: [Tier IV] Herculean Strength
    Rank: S
    Type: Physical
    Description: Decades of physical training have lead the shinobi down the fortunate path of destruction. With strength that is said to rival Gods, those with this talent can wrap metal with their bare hands and even dent sheets of steel with punches. Arbitrary defenses such as shields become useless to someone with twice the strength than the average shinobi of their rank, and by now they can lift objects ten times heavier than them; boulders becoming nothing but a training mechanism at this point. Getting hit will definitely break bones at this level.
    Upkeep: When utilizing this level of Physical Affinity, the user must sacrifice 6 Chakra per post.

Endurance-Based Affinities
    Name: [Tier I] Improved Endurance
    Rank: C
    Type: Physical
    Description: Conditioning ones body in the art of pain has allowed for the ninja to have a heightened physical endurance. These ninja are so talented in dealing with pain that they seem to only feel a quarter of the pain that their peers would. This boost is usually enough to prevent the feeling of serious damage to the person from a mere punch or kick.

    Name: [Tier II] Immense Endurance
    Rank: B
    Type: Physical
    Description: Further training in the discipline of dealing with injury has allowed for the shinobi The possessor of this talent has an increased endurance of double that of their peers which makes them considerably tougher. They are near immune to the sensation of pain from attacks equal to this rank which allows them to fight under harsh circumstances with normal efficiency.

    Name: [Tier III] Ferocious Endurance
    Rank: A
    Type: Physical
    Description: The second last level in the art of endurance, having being only accessible to those who have undergone intensive training in increasing their raw power. The possessor of this talent has an increased strength of thrice that of their peers which makes them remarkably tougher and harder to down. At this stage their endurance has transcended so high that they are now immune to the sensation of pain, even at a point where others would have passed out.

    Name: [Tier IV] Titan Endurance
    Rank: S
    Type: Physical
    Description: The last level in the art of endurance, having being only accessible to those who have undergone decades of training in the face of pain, has led the shinobi to have endurance like that of a titan. The possessor of this talent has a phenomenal pain tolerance, amounting to five times that of their peers which makes them supremely tough to keep down. At this stage, their endurance boasts that of superhuman levels with shinobi able to withstand life-threatening injury for a heightened amount of time that other shinobi would be dead in their tracks.
    Upkeep: When utilizing this level of Physical Affinity, the user must sacrifice 6 Chakra per post.

Evasion-Related Affinities
    Name: [Tier I] Improved Evasiveness
    Rank: C
    Type: Physical
    Description: Although all Ninja to some degree are renown for their evasive and slippery nature a possessor of this SC has trained to the point where they have begun to master not only the basic forms of evasive maneuvering, but they have also developed a small degree of Kinesthesiology (Bodily Knoweldge) increasing their natural mobility and flexibility. The suitability of the ninja increases as they are now capable of executing quicker flips, twists or dodges than their peers.

    Name: [Tier II] Enhanced Evasiveness
    Rank: B
    Type: Physical
    Description: Compounding upon the gains of the 'Improved Evasiveness' Special Characteristic, a possessor of this SC has progressed to an adept level of mastery over their own body, not only through their own flexibility, but also of their surroundings and standing, thus they have become more proficient in regards to evasive maneuvers and general agile movements. At this stage a Shinobi has become notably more flexible than their peers which in turn allows them to contort and bend their bodies in ways that make them quite difficult to hit within combat.


    Name: [Tier III] Advanced Evasiveness
    Rank: A
    Type: Physical
    Description: Through intense regimes of training and a great deal of stretching, a possessor of this SC has now approached the tier of master in regards to their own Kinesthetics and as such retain a level of flexibility and agility that one might find common among career contortionists. Through application of this talent they have mastered even the advanced forms of the evasive maneuvers taught to them and as such are able to dodge even rapidly accelerated attacks aimed at them.

    Name: [Tier IV] Elite Evasiveness
    Rank: S
    Type: Physical
    Description: At the highest level of ability in regards to their natural skill and knowledge with their body, a possessor of this Special Characteristic can be seen as quite possibly the most flexible person you shall ever meet. In conjunction with this natural level of flexibility, with proper study they are more than likely to be a Master Acrobat and as such capable of making expert maneuvers that take the nature of their evasive maneuverings even further. It goes without saying that it is nearly impossible to catch one with this Special Characteristic off balance due to their ability to move their body in such ways.
    Upkeep: When utilizing this level of Physical Affinity, the user must sacrifice 6 Chakra per post.



CHAKRA-BASED AFFINITIES
    Name: [Tier I] Increased Chakra Capacity
    Rank: C
    Type: Chakra Based
    Description: Through extensive meditation and physical training the ninja's chakra capacity increases by 20CP.

    Name: [Tier II] Large Chakra Capacity
    Rank: B
    Type: Chakra Based
    Description: The ninja continues their mediation and physical training which further increases their chakra capacity. Ninja with large chakra capacities have an increased reserve of 35CP. This does not stack with Tier I.

    Name: [Tier III] Enormous Chakra Capacity
    Rank: A
    Type: Chakra Based
    Description: With an already increased chakra capacity the ninja starts to accumulate a natural skill for increasing their chakra reserves as they continue through their life. Along with some training and mediation, the ninja now gains enormous chakra capacity which increases their chakra reserves by 50CP. This does not stack with Tier II.

    Name: [Tier IV] Monstrous Chakra Capacity
    Rank: S
    Type: Chakra Based
    Description: The ninja's chakra capacity now becomes legendary as it transcends that of any normal ninja would ever possess. The ninja chakra reserves are now stronger than most jinchuriki and those around them can sense the intense power radiating from the user. Those with monstrous chakra capacity have their chakra reserves increased by 75CP. This does not stack with Tier III.

    Name: Jinchuuriki Chakra Pool
    Rank: ?
    Type: Chakra Based
    Description: This affinity is restricted to Jinchuuriki. All Jinchuuriki have this affinity by default, and it does not take up one of their slots. The possessor of this affinity may choose between a bonus 65 CP, or a +5 to their Chakra Regen. This choice cannot be changed once made, and regardless of choice, the Chakra Capacity affinity cannot be taken by the character.

    Name: [Tier I] Chakra Sensory
    Rank: B
    Type: Chakra Based
    Description: The ninja awakens a dormant talent they've possessed and develops a new type of sensory. Now being classified as a "Sensor Ninja" the ninja is capable of detecting the presence of other people through a unique application their chakra. This sensory ability has two main facets of function. With the first the user must remaining focused and stationary and as a result the sensor will be able detect their targets from a great distance which can extend to a maximum of 100 meters. In this state they are capable of differentiating a character by their signature chakra alone to such an extent they can pin-point any individual within their sensory limit even if they are surrounded in a crowd as well as the size of their targets' chakra reserves. In the midst of combat, this ability is far less refined as the user is unable to maintain the proper focus. Without the proper time and effort a Sensor is only capable of utilizing their basic sensory at a maximum of 20 meters and the details they gain are far less specific. They are only able to recognize those of a familiar chakra signature with ease and beyond that their abilities are limited to a sense of vague location with no clues in regard to the actions or abilities of their opponents. It's not possible to sense without at least a minimal amount of effort, regardless of whether the enhanced or less refined senses are being applied. If multiple people are in close proximity to each other, it becomes harder to differentiate between chakra signatures. At max range, if people are within 5m of each other, their chakras become muddled. If the targets are within 20m of the sensor, their chakra only becomes muddled if they are within 1m of each other.

    Name: [Tier II] Chakra Sensory

    Type: Chakra Based
    Description: The ninja expands upon their sensory abilities. This expands upon both facets of the first Tier of this Affinity: The user no longer needs to remain completely stationary, but may only walk, and they may also talk while focusing. Their maximum range now becomes 250 meters, within which they are capable of differentiating a character by their signature chakra alone to such an extent they can pin-point any individual within their sensory limit even if they are surrounded in a crowd as well as the size of their targets' chakra reserves. In the midst of combat, their ability is still advanced, though still less refined. Their maximum range, when not focusing, becomes 50 meters, at which they are able to instantly recognize those signatures with which they are familiar, and others they can gauge the chakra reserves of their targets though little else. The user can separate chakra signatures provided they are more than 1m from each other. If targets are within 20m of the sensor, their chakra will not become muddled.

    Type: Chakra Based
    Description: The user is more careful about their Chakra reserves, resulting in a flat 2 Chakra reduced from the cost of any and all jutsu, excluding chakra upkeep. This cannot reduce costs below 1.

    Type: Chakra Based
    Description: The user is more careful about their Chakra reserves, resulting in a flat 5 Chakra reduced from the cost of any and all jutsu, excluding chakra upkeep. This cannot reduce costs below 1.

    Type: Chakra Based
    Description: The user is more careful about their Chakra reserves, resulting in a flat 7 Chakra reduced from the cost of any and all jutsu, and a flat 1 Chakra reduced from the cost of upkeep. This cannot reduce costs below 1.

    Rank: S
    Type: Chakra Based
    Description: The user is more careful about their Chakra reserves, resulting in a flat 7 Chakra reduced from the cost of any and all jutsu, and a flat 3 Chakra reduced from the cost of upkeep. This cannot reduce costs below 1.



SOCIAL-BASED AFFINITIES
    Name: Navigator
    Type: Social Based
    Description: The ninja gains a unique skill which allows them to have a natural sense of direction and placement. They always know what time it is, what direction they're facing, and even the temperature. With this skill they are exceptionally good at geography, being capable of identifying landscapes while others would be at a loss. They can essentially survive in any environment and always find routes to their destination.

    Name: High IQ
    Type: Social Based
    Description: The ninja innately possesses a high IQ which gives them a great deal of practical and analytically prowess. Whilst some might confuse a High IQ with a wealth of knowledge, that is not the case. More often than not possessing a High IQ equates more so to your ability to analyze and work your way through or around problems. To some degree many Shinobi who possess this Special Characteristic can be viewed as quick learners or even prodigies in their chosen areas of study. Like the obvious benefits of being very smart, the ninja may be well regarded for their great mathematical and thinking abilities.

    Name: Strategist
    Type: Social Based
    Description: A correlation with High IQ, the Strategist SC should be used to describe characters who because of their innate analytically nature have become renown as great strategists. Whether they may have gotten their start mastering games such as Chess, Go or Shogi, there is little to no doubt that those possessing this Special Characteristic will likely ascend to the level of a great General or wartime adviser to the Daimyo themselves. They are marked by their impressive abilities to plan and perceive at levels that generally surpass their colleagues.

    Name: Street Smarts
    Type: Social Based
    Description: Being raised in a era of battle and war the ninja has sometimes faced instances where they must gain natural street smarts in order to survive in various situations. Those with this characteristic gains a natural ability of self-preservation which allows them to survive in nearly any society or community by any means necessary. They can hustle Ryo quicker than one could imagine and can hold their own in times of struggle. Ninja with street smarts tend to have a heightened sense of intuition, honor, and fear in their respective communities.

    Name: Friends in All Places
    Type: Social Based
    Description: After many travels, the ninja has gained s scattering of allies that wish to ensure safety to the user through either kinship or a repaying favor. Having these types of connections in the villages means the user always has some sort of home and can easily take refuge.

    Name: Animal Speaking.
    Type: Social Based
    Description: A rare characteristic that one develops which allows them to understand and communicate with animals. Verbal exchange is common amongst those with this ability as the user will literally alter their voice to mimic the animal their speaking to as a way of communicating. More advanced people are even capable of feeling the emotions and pain of animals as well, although that requires physical contact. Animal Speaking is a very useful skill because they can manipulate animals to accomplish tasks, such as acting as scouts or gathering information they have already witnessed. Animals that serve as familiars to specific clans or people such as Kakichu Bugs, Inuzuaka dogs or summons, cannot be controlled due to their loyalty to their owners.

    Name: Infinite Riches
    Type: Social Based
    Description: The ninja gains near infinite Ryo from either inheritance or a unknown circumstance which makes them filthy rich and now highly respected in their village. They can now live in large mansions in their villages and possess the latest technology and training equipment. They can purchase anything without fear of running out of money which makes them both popular and feared for their power.

    Name: Chakra Aura
    Type: Social Based
    Description: Many people have vibrant, stunning personalities. Others can be colder than a Yuki's heart. Whatever the case, these people have personalities of such extremes, it even influences their chakra. While giving it no particularly special features, morbid individuals may find their chakra to carry a blackened tinge, carefree and happy ones may be surprised to find they emit a yellow glow, and those who are quick to anger might find a red surprise reminiscent of a Bijuu host.

    Name: Musical Prodigy
    Type: Social Based
    Description: A ninja's life is never easy, and rarely gives them the opportunity to relax. During one such moment, a possessor of this SC, on a whim, picked up an instrument. To their great surprise, that have a natural talent with it, and within a few hours of practice, quickly master its usage.

    Name: Art Prodigy
    Type: Social Based
    Description: A ninja's life is never easy, and rarely gives them the opportunity to relax. During one such moment, a possessor of this SC, on a whim, picked up a sketchbook or a paint brush. A few hours of soothing, relaxing creating later, they find they actually have a knack for it. Or at the very least, someone will look at their drawing of a vase and say "Yup, that's a vase" rather than "That's a very abstract portrait of the Hokage you have there."

    Name: Master Chef
    Type: Social Based
    Description: Master Chef is the ability to create food for either traveling or serving their villages. Now being classified under the "Cooking-Nin" profession, labeling the ninja as now being an exceptional cook! They can whip up dishes of all kinds and provide satisfactory meals for their customers or companions. When out in the field the cooking ninja can use their surroundings to make food for their teammates or themselves. Because of their skill Cooking Nin tend to work at restaurants in the villages which gives them a steady income of Ryo and reputation amongst their villagers, especially Akimichi.

    Name: Writer
    Type: Social Based
    Description: The fine art of literature and imagination fuels the ninja's soul as they now as a undying will to write novels, short stories, poems, anything. Always having a pen or pencil with them the ninja can create or write about nearly anything that comes to mind with the right inspiration.

    Name: Notorious
    Type: Social Based
    Description: Characters have become masters of their given skills, so much so, that they are more well known for their skill than they are for being ninja. They can typically travel in any country and be well known for their skills and works, even receiving invitations from local nobles to perform/create for them. The recognition scales with the user's rank, so a Jōnin and a Genin both with this Affinity would both be known, but at different strengths; the Jōnin may be known World-Wide, while the Genin may only be known within their Country.
